Takahashi Ai "feels young again" playing the role of a 17-year-old high school student - Press conference of the drama "Q.E.D Shoumei Shuuryou"

Idol group Morning Musume's Takahashi Ai(22) plays the leading role of the drama "Q.E.D. Shoumei Shuuryou" (NHK production). A press conference for the drama was held on the 10th with Takahashi, her co-actor Nakamura Aoi(17) and Ishiguro Ken(42) in the role of her father. Takahashi praised the drama and said, "I watched it like a normal viewer, feeling excited and my heart beating fast. I hope this feeling of excitement can be conveyed to the audience."



"Q.E.D. Shoumei Shuuryou" is based upon Katou Motohiro's manga of the same title, which is being serialized in "Magazine GREAT" (Koudansha Ltd.). "Q.E.D." "Q.E.D." is written at the end of a mathematical proof and means "that which was to be demonstrated" in Latin. The story is about high school student Mizuhara Kana (Takahashi), who isn't good at mathematics, but who is very energetic and a master of kendo, and genius boy Touma Sou (Nakamura), who graduated from an American university at the age of 15, solving difficult cases in a logical manner, in the same way one would mathematical problems. The theme song is Aoyama Thelma's "Kono mama zutto".



In the interview, questions about 22-year-old Takahashi playing the role of a 17-year-old high school student were asked in succession. Takahashi replied, "In Morning Musume, I think I have to be level-headed, but on the film set, I can behave like a spoiled child. I feel younger again, almost like a 17-year-old girl." Nakamura backed this up by saying, "At first, I thought it's a woman who's older than me, but as the shooting went on, she started to appear more and more like someone of my age and now we're like friends." On the other hand, Takahashi said about Nakamura, "At first, I thought that he's more mature than his age, but when he started playing with insects etc., I thought he's a young boy after all.", a comment an older sister would give. The drama with 10 episodes in total will be aired on NHK on Thursdays every week at 8pm, starting January 8th, 2009.
